Gutter & Fascia Replacement in Canberra

Most people don’t think about their gutters until water is running down the inside of a window, pouring over the front of the gutter in a storm, or staining the eaves. By then the question isn’t whether something’s wrong. It’s how big the problem is and what fixing it will cost.

We’re National Cladding & Roofing, a family-owned Canberra business and authorised Stratco dealer. We replace gutters, fascia and downpipes on homes and commercial buildings across Canberra and the ACT. We’ve been doing this for [30+] years for more than 2,500 customers. Some of the most useful jobs we do are the ones where we tell people they only need a repair.

Expert Fascia & Gutter Services

Your fascia and gutters play a critical role in directing rainwater away from your roofline and foundations. We provide reliable, long-lasting systems that enhance both protection and street appeal.

Do you need repairs or a full replacement? This is the first thing most people want to know, so here's how we look at it.

A repair usually makes sense when:The problem is in one spot, like a leaking joint, a loose bracket or a single dented section. The gutters are Colorbond or Zincalume and generally in good condition. The fascia behind them is solid.Replacement is usually the better value when:There's rust along multiple lengths, especially rust coming through from the inside of the gutter. Gutters sag or hold water after rain because the fall has been lost. Joints keep leaking after being resealed. Timber fascia is soft, split or rotting, because the gutters can't be fixed securely to rotten timber. Water regularly overflows into the eaves or down the walls during heavy rain.As a rough rule, if you're patching the same gutters every year or two, you're paying for replacement in instalments. We'll show you what we find, with photos if you're not keen on climbing a ladder, and give you a straight answer either way.

Our fascia and gutter services

Gutter replacementWe remove your old gutters, check the fascia underneath, and install new gutters with the correct fall to the downpipes. We use Stratco gutters in Colorbond steel, so you can match or change your roof and trim colours. Common profiles include quad, half-round and square-line. We'll recommend what suits the look of your home and the amount of water your roof sheds.Where it suits the house, we can install slotted-front gutters. These let water spill out the front in an extreme downpour rather than backing up into your eaves and ceiling.Gutter repairsFor gutters worth saving, we fix leaking joints, replace damaged sections, re-bracket sagging runs and correct the fall so water drains properly.Metal fascia installationMetal fascia replaces timber boards with a steel fascia that doesn't need painting and won't rot. It gives the roofline a crisp, modern finish and a solid base for new gutters.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between fascia and gutters?
The fascia is the board running along the edge of your roof, just below the roof sheets or tiles. The gutter is the channel attached to it that catches rainwater and carries it to the downpipes. Gutters depend on the fascia behind them, so if the fascia is rotting, new gutters won’t stay secure.

Can I replace my gutters without replacing the fascia?
Yes, if the fascia is in good condition. We check it once the old gutters are off. If it’s sound, we reuse it or encapsulate it. If it’s rotten, we’ll show you before recommending anything.

How long do Colorbond gutters last?
Well-maintained Colorbond gutters commonly last [20+ years], depending on exposure and how often they’re cleaned. Leaving leaves to sit in them is the main thing that shortens their life.

Is encapsulation cheaper than replacing timber fascia?
Usually, because the timber stays in place and there’s less labour. The trade-off is that the timber needs to be sound. Encapsulating over rot isn’t a fix.

Why do my gutters overflow when it rains heavily?
The most common causes are blockages, too few or undersized downpipes, or gutters that have lost their fall. Sometimes the gutter is simply too small for the roof area. We’ll work out which it is before recommending anything.

Do I need gutter guards?
If you have trees overhanging or nearby, guards will save you a lot of cleaning and reduce overflow. If your block is near bushland, metal guards also help keep dry leaf litter out of your gutters.

Do you work outside Canberra?
Yes. We service the wider ACT, Queanbeyan and the Bega Valley.
